December Daily - Day 16

This is one page that is complete. It is about Trader Joe's coming to Kansas City area.

Day 16
Day 16
Journaling:
Extra - Extra
The news came today that Trader Joe’s is approved for the Ward Parkway location.
There was problems with the zoning, over liquor sales in a neighborhood. I am so happy
that Trader Joe’s is coming to town. They carry a lot of products that are not in regular
grocery stores around here. One item is Two-Buck Chuck. Two-buck Chuck is a wine that orginially could be bought only in California. The story goes that the wife got the winery in a
divorce settlement along with his name “Charles Shaw.” It won 1st place, at a wine event, snobing the other wine companies by selling for $1.99 a bottle. It is a very good wine. Now there should be some completion in pricing on siminlar products.

One Little Word

One Little Word
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow. From my own personal experience, it can be a catalyst for enriching your life. Designed to help you make your own one little word more visible throughout 2011, this once a month class will encourage you to follow-through on just one small creative prompt per month. Each prompt will be kept within an 8.5 x 11 album and at the end of the year you’ll have a wonderful collection of thoughts and reflections on the way your word has played a part in your life in 2011.

In 2006, I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January — a word that I can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. My words have included play, peace, vitality, nurture, and story. These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another. They've been embedded into who I am, and into who I'm becoming. They've been what I've needed (and didn't know I needed). They've helped me to breathe deeper, to see clearer, and to grow. My word for 2011 is light.

This above paragraph is from Ali Edward's Big Picture Classes new class "One Little Word." I have been following her the past four years on her word. It has been very interesting to see the changes that it has made. Mine, this past year started off as "Wellness" but another word has creeped into my life, "Story." I find the words everywhere as a continue reminder. This class is going to be great, in fact, any class from Ali is great. I have taken several from her.

I am presently taking "December Daily" it has been fun. Keeping up has been a challenge but I am only two days behind. I have to pick up some supplies today, I ran out of adhesive. A needed component to getting the pages together.

Come join me in taking the class. I am currently working to find a word for 2011. Click the icon on the right for the class to find out more about it.

Catching UP on December Daily Pages

I have been working on the December Daily Pages. I have these completed:

Day 6
Day 6
Journaling:
The day started off early. I had to be downtown 9AM to be at a WEN meeting to
prepare and review for interviewing techniques. The meeting went to 12PM. After the
meeting I went to  Brair Clift Shopping Center which is located across the river.
The shopping center has some unique shops. One that I like is Urban Arts. It is a
combination of a knit, Amy Butler fabrics, scrapbooking and bead store. It does not
have a large section of each of the groups but it does have a nice selection of each
one. This time I found a patter for a short jacket and yarn to go with it.

Day 6
Journaling:
The yarn I purchased is a lime green 50% Acrylic, 40% Wool and 10% Nylon
by Berroco “Vintage Chunky.” The yarn is a soft yarn and the color will go great
when wearing black..Also purchased some felted wool to make the
flower pins. A pattern that I purchased last year, but the shop had sold out of
fabric, pattern was the last one and was also discontinued, so I snatched it up. I
have learned that if you see something to grab it while you can, because when you
want it, you will not be able to find it..

Day 7

Day 7
Journaling:
Job Fairs:
Yesterday, I was at WEN (Women’s Employment Network) practicing interview
techniques for today’s job fair. The job fair was held at Hyatt Regency at
Crown Center. The fair was small, but I came with some leads that I need to
follow-up on. The fair was from 1 to 3:30 PM.. Afterwards I took a few
pictures of the lighting.

Day 8

Day 8

Day 9

Journaling:
I have been invited to Prairie Village Mayor’s Holiday Party. So I need
something to wear. I had been looking in the shops and did not find any-
thing I liked. I had bought this material, a Lycra knit, in a grey and
black leopard print. Combining two patterns to make the dress was a little
of a challenge. I used the pattern to make a top yesterday and got it
mostly made, made the adjustments and starting cutting out the dress.
First the top part then checked and rechecked to cut-out the skirt and
then after the two were temporary attached, measured and then cut-out
the overlay. The dress took two days to make.I have some adjustments to
the fit of the top part but it worked for the party.
Day 9
Journaling:
Another item that I made for the party was refurb a pin. While I was
shopping I saw these pins, shop was closed and I thought I have a pin
similar to those I just need to add the feathers. Dad would tell me to
add feathers to a dress that I just finished, and he would say, you need
to add feathers around the neck. So Daddy here is the dress with the
feathers.

December Daily - Day 5

Yesterday, I went to see the movie "Burlesque". It is by far one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. The music and singing were great, dancing was great, story was good, WOW! was I entertained! It is the first movie that I had a strong pull to turn around and buy another ticket and watched it again. I didn't, I bought the CD instead. And it too was no disappointment. It is definitely a must see. I really like good talent.

This is a picture of Day 5 December Daily.

Every Meal Has A Story and Dec. Daily 2,3,4

Yoga Bag

Yesterday and Today I have been working on a Yoga Bag. I looked in the stores and the style I like comes only in white. I bought it but seeing other class mates and seeing how dirty theirs were I decided that I needed to make one, and take the other one back.  Here is the result. It has 2 pockets -- one on the outside and one on the inside. The fabric on the inside is windbreaker fabric, the outside fabric is a printed canvas.

Now, I need to work on December Daily for the last two days, so off to make the pages.

Reverb 10

Reverb 10 is an annual event and online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next. The end of the year is an opportunity to reflect on what's happened, and to send out reverberations for the year ahead. With Reverb 10, we'll do both.
This December we invite you to share your story and join us in reflection. I am participating in Reverb 10. It is an online prompt that you receive in your in box for the word for the day or your word for the year. Click on the link on the side and join me, it should be a fun event.

Beginning of December Daily - Day 1

Today has been a very busy day. I woke up and started working on the yoga bag, by cutting it out and started making it.  I am making the pattern and have came across not having enough fabric. I am using some fabric that I bought 37 years ago, so there is no going back for more. Never found a project for it until now. Luckily, I have some fabric that will go with it. I am still working on the bag so this is the only picture I have so far. Will take more when something gets accomplished.
Cutting out the yoga bag
Then I went to yoga class. Today was better than yesterday, I just could not get balanced. It is getting easier and I can tell that the clothes are fitting looser. I just love yoga. It is a challenge and I know we are not doing all of the positions, but I like the flow of how the positions are going moving into the different stances.

Since this is December 1, it is time to start December Daily, below are the pages that were created today.
