The New Love in My Life

This past Thursday, I found the new love of my life. Yes, he is a 3.9 pound Schnoodle, (a Schnauzer and Poodle mix) called Pierre. He is so sweet and loving, gives kisses all the time. Here are some pictures of him.

Pierre and I at Pet Shop

Look Pierre
It snowed today-Now how do I get over this wall
Oh! These sticks-Take this!
What was that?
Here I come!

Feb. 26 Adventure

It has been some time since I have written but here is an adventure that you just can not get there from here.

February 26, 2011
Friday I received an e-mail from Barbara asking if I wanted to go to a Farmer‘s show at the American Royal. Neither of us wanted to go, but I told her I would pick her up at the entrance and we go shopping. So Saturday, there is a glaze of ice and fog and cold, I called her to see if they were coming, we both do not like being on the road with those conditions. So at noon she calls and says they are on their way. So I get ready and head on over to the American Royal. When I get there using my usual way of getting there, it has changed, so here I am driving in the bottoms and can not find Kemper Arena or the American Royal. So after half-an-hour of driving around I find a filling station to ask for directions. The people coming out I waved them over to ask how to get to American Royal, they were out of town, although, they had just came from there. Another person came out ant told me to go back on the street and turn left after two streets. So finely I get there and pull over to call Barbara, and before I got half of the number in there was a tap-tap on the side window. It was Barbara, she got in and way we went to Crown Center.
Shops we visited in Briar Cliff Shopping Center
Saw the puppies here
Met Gina here wearing vest
We walked around Crown Center window shopping and then sat down and talked. Decided to walk some more and ended over by Union Station. I asked her if she had been to Briar Clift so we went over there and walked around. Briar Clift is North of the river. We went into “Land of Paws” and played with the puppies. Urban Arts and saw the crafts, went into a Skinny girl shop, and then in this other store, The lady behind the counter had on this unique vest, I commented on it, and Barbara said, you could make that, the lady told us where she got it but both of us did not know where it was and she said,so you Sew! I said, Yes, she said if you make me another one, I will let you take a pattern of of this one, So I figured the yardage of material she would need and exchanged telephone numbers.

We walk outside, and the telephone rings, it is Ken, Barbara’s husband, he and Kyle are ready to leave the show, so Barbara and I head back to American Royal.  Well, we miss the exit, and so I take the next exit, it has the American Royal sign so we turn and then I realize we are back where I got turned around before. So we wonder through several streets. The snow has not melted there and the streets have not been cleared all these weeks of snows.

Well, we could not find the filling station, there was a train that had coal cars, and now it is stopped, Barbara is on the phone with her son, Kyle. There was a tap-tap on the window and a lady was also lost and wondered if we going to Kemper Arena which is next door to American Royal, we said yes, so now I have someone following us. We drive and there is nothing that looks familiar, we find Fairfax area where GM Motors makes cars, Sunshine company that makes crackers, this is were we lost the people following us, we had forgotten they were there, until I look back and they are turning around.

Well to make the story short here comes a sign for Parvin Rd, now I know that is up by KCI Airport. Then 152 Road, which is close to Barry Road and I know we are around the airport. We found I-29 or I-35 so we are on a road that will get us back. We get back to where the road meets up where we were at Briar Clift road joins in. So Barbara speaks up and says we took this road when we came in, which is 12th street. We took that and there we see Kemper Arena. Now, to explain were we were or why we are now 1 1/2 hours later.

1. That was the longest train ever
2. We found the road that won’t let you get there from here.

We find Ken and Kyle patiently waiting and Ken has this look like what kind of story are you going to tell me of where your where abouts were.

I rolled down the window and told him we found the road that will not let you get there from here, Ken said, “I have been on a few of those.” and just laughed. Barbara had been anxious about what he was going to be like, they had to now feed the cattle and it was getting foggy.

I called later to see if they had gotten home OK, they were at Higginsville and had dinner at Odessa. Ken asked if I had run into anymore trains. Barbara and I had a good time visiting and catching up on news.

One Little Word-March

Today is starting March's "One Little Word". The prompt for this month is "Action", which I have been doing all of February, now I will continue through March. I am decluttering the house, farm and my life. The past hasn't work or gone the way I had planned so now that I am in a new decade of life, I am changing the ways I have been and going for what I really want for the rest of life. Opening to new options, adventures. Life is just to short to stay in the same rut. I have a quote that I retrieved from a friend who had it pasted on her desk to remind her, but she never acted on, it is "If you keep in the rut too long, it will get so deep that it becomes your grave." Six months after she retired she came down with fourth stage cancer.

She never broke out of that rut. So world here I come.
